Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. Depression lies in that grey area which is a bit confusing. Living with depression requires a day-to-day management and to be able to do that, understanding depression is important. The treatment for depression, of course, would vary from one person to another. One of the common feelings of depression is to feel isolated most of the times. You feel like remaining aloof from the world and this is the place where negative thoughts crawl into your mind. You have to pay attention to what is happening around you because you are traveling which means you are away from the comforts and perks of your home. Unwillingly also you have to stop by and talk to a complete stranger because you have to know the correct way to the destination. When you are depressed, you simply want to minus people from your life – these people refer to your known sect of people. But while traveling when you see new faces around you, you may end up having a friendship of a lifetime with some!

Experience Yourself

Until and unless your limits are pushed or you try a bit more, you can never know your true worth. In depression, you always hold a feeling that you are not worthy enough. But with traveling, you can see your true potential and this building of self-esteem is very important. Suppose while traveling back from the sunset point at the hill station in the evening, the tyre of your car punctures and there is no way out but to spend the time atop the hills under the sky and stars. There may be some fear of unknown animals too! But you simply cannot escape this situation but you have to stick there and see the flip side. Just like others you if you go back to the hotel, you would miss experiencing yourself. Traveling would give you many such situations where you would have to push your limits or come out from your comfort zone, and these jerks off depression.

Inspiration Rushes Back

You may end up meeting someone who is in a bigger problem than you are! Every single person in this world faces some kind of issues and all are struggling in their own way to overcome that. A recent Bollywood movie named “Jia Aur Jia” portrayed something like that. Jia-1 was traveling in partnership with Jia-2. Jia-1 went on a trip to commit suicide and Jia-2 went to live the short life she has in hand (she was terminally ill, hardly 2 months of life she would live). When Jia-1 came to know this secret, she got her confidence back! You also might hear stories of your fellow passenger and get the inspiration back to your life. You may meet people from a 360-degree different lifestyle and that would lead to the exchange of ideas of a different level. Thus, meeting people would give you a completely different outlook!

While you are depressed, your outlook becomes tilted and narrow because you are self-centered then. You are just concerned about your day-to-day life and your setbacks, loans, bills, failed relationships, etc. Now, at this point in time, you cannot evaluate yourself properly. But when you pull yourself away from this situation and travel, you tend to see the bigger picture. You can then see the world & its people and your situations from a different angle. That happens because you accumulate many experiences, stories of people, and these things help in curbing depression.

If you really want to come out of your depression, select the awe-inspiring places of the world like the Grand Canyon, Great Barrier Reef, Northern Lights, Santorini, Hagia Sophia, Cinque Terre, Hanging Gardens, The Great Wall Of China etc. Go for trekking or stay in an island, and talk with the nature. The universe has its own way of reaching out to you and answering all your questions. You will heal naturally and many research has also proved that going into the lap of nature is one of the best cures for depression.

Last but not least always remember that you are just the smallest of the small particle of this huge universe and now imagine if you are so tiny, how tiny your depression is? So, think at a larger scale and evaluate carefully. Every night wakes up to a new day and thus every depression would also find its solution. Just don’t give up – instead, pack your bags and experience yourself in a new way!
