2013 saw a massive spy thriller movie directed by the great Kamal Hassan which was made in Tamil and Hindi languages. IMDB rates it 8.4 – quite a high score among the Indian movies. Many eminent film critics said that it is a spy thriller of international standards. The best thing about this movie is that none of the characters are what they seem and that’s what holds your attention. A woman married to a classical dancer is having an affair with her boss who has links with the terrorists. Now there are some grey shades in her husband which is what you will see!

Directed by the supremely talented Nishikant Kamat, this movie released in 2015 and it is an official remake of Malayalam movie of the same name directed by Jeetu Joseph. It is a gripping tale of a father protecting his family. There’s a bad guy in the movie who is the spoilt brat of the IGP of Goa and he goes missing. The Police suspect the girl’s family and the plot is all about designing lies in front of the Police and that is done stupendously well. What makes this one of the best movies in the past decade is the heart-in-mouth moments, engrossing climax, and the stellar performance of the lead actors. This movie has been remade in various other languages like Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Sinhala.

Shankar is a renowned director whose body of work is marvelous. This time he came up with another heart-winning plot named “I” that released in 2015. The film tells the story of a bodybuilder turned supermodel, played by Vikram, who after being deformed, and exacts revenge upon those who were responsible for his quandary. The lead actor Vikram nailed the role beautifully. The technical aspects, makeup, and of course the pace of the movie would keep you hooked until the end.

IMDB gives it 8.1 but you may give it a full 10/10. Yes, this movie is so complete in every frame. A powerful thriller plot that is superbly balanced with dramatic background music and raunchy dialogues would never find a “Delete” button in your life for sure. Directed by National Award winning director Srijit Mukherjee, this movie was released in 2011. It tells the story of an anonymous serial killer who leaves Bengali poems at the death-spot of the victim. A middle-aged suspended IPS officer is called upon to solve the case along with a young officer. What happens next would leave you in splits!

This is a Kannada movie directed by Pawan Kumar that released in the year 2013. IMDB rates this romantic psychological thriller 8.4. The plot revolves around a man who is suffering from insomnia. He is tricked into buying a drug named Lucia that would cure his disease. But this drug makes all his desires come true in his dreams. The effect is so palpable that the lines between reality and fantasy get blurred. One must watch it gauge how far imagination can run!
