“Things Change. Time Change. People got to change with them.”
“You can tell a lot about a person by what’s on their playlist.”
“That’s what I love about music. One of the banalest scenes is suddenly invested with so much meaning.”
Can you relate to these wonderful quotes from a brilliant, brilliant movie? Yes, we know you literally murmured “Begin Again” while reading these three.
This movie is personally my one of the favourite movie to watch over and again. It has lifted me up in times of despair and cheered me again and again when I wanted to. Let me share a little brief about the wonderful writing of this romantic narration.
Dan and Greta meet with Saul, Dan’s business partner and co-founder of their record label, but he does not see the same potential in Greta and turns her away. Undeterred, Dan proposes that he and Greta produce their own album together, to be recorded live during the summer at various public locations around New York City. Recruiting a team of talented musicians, including Greta’s best friend Steve, Dan sets out to make an album worthy of being published by his label. During this time, Dan and Greta bond both personally and professionally, and Greta takes Dan’s teenage daughter Violet, a fledgeling guitarist, under her wing and encourages her to play on the album.
When the album is finished, Dan and Greta meet again with Saul, who is very impressed with their collaboration. Greta demands that Saul give Dan his job back and give her a bigger share in the deal. They leave without reaching an agreement, but Dan feels confident that Saul will eventually sign Greta to the label.
Greta visits Dan at his apartment as he prepares to move back home, having made amends with his wife. She tells him that she does not want him to release her album, instead preferring to distribute it online for $1. Although Dan returns to work with Saul, he agrees to let Greta release the album online and helps her to promote the release. The next day, Saul jokingly fires Dan for promoting Greta’s album and informs him that it sold 10,000 copies in its first day of release.
Important lessons to learn from ‘Begin Again – The Movie’
1. Music sets the mood right!
This is one such movie where you can connect with the characters for real and can sail the same boat they are sailing. When Greta is ditched by Adam Levine she turns her pain into the art she is most fond of. She does not go back to him only because she sees her worth in the eyes of Mark Ruffalo who pushes her to concentrate on her own thing.
2. Cheating Does Not Happen By Accident
Adam Levine cheats on Greta with a colleague from work and tells her when he is back from a tour. She is devastated beyond measure because he acts so natural before her as if it’s no big deal. Great decides to leave him for her own good. This simply implies in all real-life relationships too! One does not fall into the trap of cheating. We all know we are going to hurt a person when we choose to.
3. Heartbreaks are a good teacher!
Indeed they are, there are no second thoughts about it. Break-Ups are tough to deal with, but how does one choose to deal with them is the real deal. Heartbreaks make you stronger and you do look through people when they try to mean otherwise. They are the real lessons which will come our way to make our foundation strong.
4. No matter what, You can always “Begin Again”!
We’ve come back to where we started, by beginning again! No matter, how hard does life get – One can always begin again. After all, we are all lost stars trying to shine through the dark. Begin again, next time more wisely!
